Potential traffic is the estimated amount of traffic a keyword can bring to your website. With each different keyword, the amount of website traffic they bring is also different.

Potential traffic is also considered one of the important indicators. This term is Something that every business wants to have in their Online Marketing campaign.
How to calculate potential website traffic?
The process of calculating potential website traffic for a keyword is divided into 2 main steps:
Step 1: Check the average monthly search volume of the keyword
There are now many tools that can assist you in this process. Take for example Ahrefs' Keyword Explorer tool.
To check the estimated website traffic of the exact keyword you just need to enter the keyword in the Find Keyword Explorer box.

Step 2: Calculate the CTR (Click-through-rate) users click on the article.
Usually, the estimated website traffic considered by the SEO-er depends on the traffic that the website is in the 5th position on the rankings.
However, to get the exact temporary number, I will give you the following calculation formula:

Website Traffic Potential = Volume * CTR * 2
In there:
- Volume : Apply the steps listed in step 1
- CTR : Get the CTR rate of the article that is currently in the top 5 on the SERP.
So what is the CTR of the article that is in the top 5 usually? I certainly can't give you the exact number you want.
But according to the August 2021 issue of Advanced Web Rankings, here is their answer: CTR = 4.6. This conclusion is made based on 1,284,543 keywords – 67,476 websites (on Desktop) and 726,785 keywords – 62,761 websites (on Mobile).

You are probably wondering where the number 4.6 came from. I averaged it and rounded it off! Since there is always a probability of error of the calculation, for simplicity I take 4.6 as the average.
Note: This is an estimated website traffic, so everything stops at an estimate.
Specific examples of how to calculate website traffic
Assuming for the keyword " how to lose weight ", you want to know the potential website traffic of this keyword, perform the following steps:
Determine the volume - the search volume of the keyword "how to
lose weight"
Determine the traffic of the website that is in the top 5 of the keyword
Suppose in this case, you cannot get the traffic of the article that is in the top 5. Because this article has a different keyword than the keyword you want to search for, the estimated website traffic.
So, applying the formula I get the result:
Estimated Traffic = ((Volume * 4.6)/100)* 2 =((17000*4.6)100/)*2 = 1564 traffics
